Hi,
I'm in a similiar situation to the fellow looking for an AMD motherboard, except that I will be building a P4 rig. Based on what I've been able to gather reading through older posts, an 875 or 865 based motherboard is the way to go. As 865's have just come out I haven't been able to dig up alot of info on those. Any thoughts on which is the better option? I'm going to be plugging a P4 2.66GHz into it, probably running a single IDE harddrive, DDR400 RAM and a Radeon 9700 Pro.
I've picked out a few boards to look at more closely:
-ASUS P4C800 Deluxe looks like a great board though I've read some conflicting reviews. It's a little on the pricey side (~$300 CDN).
-SOLTEK SL-86SPE-L I865 also looks good, and it's a heck of a lot cheaper at ~$180 CDN.
What do I lose moving from an 875 to 865 chipset? I know ASUS is a quality company, but I don't know anything about SOLTEK -- are they any good? Any recommendations of a board other than those?
Seis
