I am getting an Athlon 64 Venice for Christmas (my girlfriend is so kind sometimes!) and want to know what is the best motherboard to get for overclocking. I have a gig of Corsair value select memory that I would like to keep atleast for now, and am looking to go PCI-E. I know DFI w/Nforce 4 and Corsair do not get along. Cost is a factor, but I don't mind paying a bit more if it is worth it. I'll probably go with a GeForce 6800GS for it's dollar/performance ratio, maybe try SLI eventually or upgrade down the road, so SLi is also a must. This will be my main machine, primary purpose will be gaming, but I'll use it for just about everything.

Thanks!

the new nvidia tforce boards have both agp and pci-e. That might help if you do not want to get a pic-e card right now and you have an agp card.

I had heard (on this site) of problems with DFI and Corsair... maybe it's just a few instances here and there? I'll have to research some more.

Thanks for the link to that Epox board, but it appear that it is AGP. I would like to go with PCI-E.

Any version of the Asus A8N-SLI motherboards are great for overclocking. I have a Asus A8N-SLI (regular version) with a A64 3200+ Venice chip and I had mine overclocked to 2.75ghz and ran rock solid.

I have Corsair VS memory and should get the DFI board I ordered today. I'll post here once I get it to work or give up on it. It seems about half the people who tried this combination have gotten it to work and the other half haven't, so I figured it's worth trying. I think this stuff works fine but the default settings the board chooses are unstable, so you need to set everything just right manually. I will probably buy new memory (2GB) in a month anyway but want to see if this stuff can hold me over until then.

i've used corsair tccd AND bh-6 on my ultra board.

both work GREAT! no problems at all.

if not the DFI board then the Asus A8R-MVP seems to be a good one as well.
