Which monitor?

Since the two monitors are well regarded units it really depends on the performance of your system - if it can handle 1920x1200 then go 24" for 10 bucks more - better for browsing the web and the occasional movie.
 
That LG is wonderful! I love mine dude, seriously... The glossy screen is beautiful. I have owned several monitors in the past two years, searching for that perfect one. Closest one I have found for myself is the LG you mentioned. Go check it out at a best buy store and see it in person. I am sure you will find it enticing...

Good question. I searched on Google and it seems a lot of the new games do actually support even higher resolutions. The thing is some people have had problems running them at very high resolutions resulting in sudden black screens. But you can check out the games which are run at 1650 X 1050 resolution and higher and the subsequent results here:

no, i mean 1900x1080 and 1900x1200 is a very standard resolution in most games I've seen. I'm wondering if 1680x1050 is standard enough that the games have a native support for that resolution.

Yes, agreed. I've read that some old games also can be tweaked a tad bit to play at higher resolutions.

 
Yeah, I don't game myself (apart from F3 sometimes) but I think you can tweak some .dat or .ini files and enter custom resolutions ..

Yes, true. What I wonder is will playing a little older games at high resolutions slow down the frames per second making the game stutter?
 
I ordered the BenQ off of newegg. Good price this weekend and the monitor got very good reviews considering it's a TN and is considerably cheaper than the Samsung offering. For the slight lag, I'll take this 24" over the LG 22" which I was looking at before. I doubt highly that I'll notice the lag at all. The extra resolution will help more.
