I need a monitor. I am considering KDS-AV195 and viewsonic, as suggested in this forum.
My questions are:
1. 17' or 19'
Will 19' too big to use , uncomfortable and bad for eyes?My bidget is $400. How about sony 17' E200, which looks much better than 19' KDS in bestbuy.
2. KDS-AV195
My friend said KDS is not good because it is not brand-name, viewsonic is. His concern is KDS may lose good quality soon, or break down some day, whereas you don't need to worry about viewsonis.
3. My VIDEO card is ATI RAGE FURY PRO 32MB W/ TV OUT & IN , CPU PIII667, Mobo ASUS P3V-4X VIA 694 4X AGP MB. Considering the compatibility, which monitor is better?
Thanks.

1. No, 19" will look gorgeous, it's not big. In fact, you'll regret getting 17" if you have seen 19", it looks much better.

2. What your friend said is most likely not true, even though I dont like KDS. I wouldnt say that they have bad quality, they have excellent warranty policy, but from what I heard they get RMAed a lot. ViewSonics, in my opinion, is still not that good, their quality is excellent but they look like crap. If you're going for $400 or less, I highly recommend Samsung monitors, they're excellent quality monitors, they're brand name so you dont have to worry about it, and they look very good, great image quality, and they're cheap too. Definitely the best bang for the buck.

3. Lol... dont worry about compatibility. Your Rage Fury will take them just fine.

This is a little OT, but I use dual KDS 17-inch monitors. I think that dual monitors are second only to ADSL or cable internet access in enhancing my PC 'experience.' Two 19-inchers would not fit on my desk and I bought the KDS's because they were cheap and looked good.
Individual monitors differ even within the same model. You should buy based on how they look to your eyes.

;) I did read most of the articles about monitors in this forum, and that is why I focus on the KDS and viewsonic only. It is because I will buy one soon but can not decide so I asked again.
About samsung, actually I am kind of afraid of that brand. One of my frend's samsung camer broke soon. This morning when I open a new samsung CD-RW disk, the box broke ...

You're afraid of Samsung becaue their camera broke and the box that contains their CD-RW broke? Jees... their monitors dont get broke easily like that. Plus it has nothing to do with their other products.

I had the KDS VS-195 and I really liked it. Just upgraded to a KDS AV195-TF for Trinitron flatness.

The KDS support is excellent, they will guide you even if the supposed problem might not be with your monitor but rather your video card or drivers.
