***URGENT ***
Just bought ane w pc with Q6600 processor and average to low graphics (Nvidia 8600).
I need to buy a monitor.

Q1.) Do I buy a 1920 x 1200 montior or do I but a 1920 x 1080 monitor?

Q2.) Will my pc handle a 24inch or 26 inch. Do i need to go lower to a 22inch?

Q3.) Monitor usage is for general desktop work including excel, word & powerpoint. Other uses will be for watching movies & playing games. Any idea of model names that I should consider? Anything upto £300/- ($450) would be appreciated.

Is the GPU a 8600GT ? If it is, it will be fine...but it will not run games at those resolutions.

Get 1920x1200.

No, they won't run well on an nVidia 8600 series at those resolutions.

You will need a more powerful video card to push newer games on a monitor with either of those resolutions (1920x1200 or 1920x1080). This also depends on the games you will be playing also. At anything higher than 1680x1050, I usually recommend one of the following:

For playing newer games:
GTX260
4870 1GB

For older less demanding games:
8800GT
4850

All things vary, so it's hard to pinpoint which level of card would serve you best without knowing what you'll be playing.

1920x1080 is a better res for movies (no black bars) and games (less pixels, more fps).

1920x1200 is better for everything else. :)

Hey, you could actually gain a few FPS by picking the 1920x1080 one. :D Go with the 16:9.
