I'm partial to ViewSonic, and just bought a P95f+ myself. It has that ultrabright feature, but I'm not a gamer. *shrug*. They both look pretty equivalent; I'd probably try to get a look at the display on them before deciding. These flat-screened CRTs seem to have an issue where the picture is nice and sharp in the middle of the screen, but gets a bit fuzzy out around the corners.

Id you want to enjoy your games to the fullest I'd suggest a used 21" or 22" monitor by ViewSonic. I paid $400 Canadian ($312.50 U.S.) for my used 21" ViewSonic P810 It rocks! 19" screens are so last year, know what I'm sayin'?:)

The Viewsonic will run higher refresh rates ?

Viewsonic ? A90f+ ...1280x1024 ? 80Hz
Samsung ? 955DF ... 1280x1024 ?. 75Hz

I can notice flicker below 80Hz so on that alone I would go with the Viesonic. Also, on some of the Samsungs monitors I?ve seen in the past, the flat technology made the center part of the screen look concave and I didn?t like that look at all.

Viewsonic would be my choice.

I have a Viewsonic A90f+. I bought it at the LA computer fair for $99, refurbished, and couldn't be happier. Its ultrabright feature makes all the colors more vivid, and it really stood out from the racks of other monitors they were selling there. After six months of using it the details are still ultra crisp at 1280x1024 75Hz with my ATI FireGL 8800.

I have no experience with the Samsung, however.
