Which monitor for ~$400?

If I've got up to $400 for a monitor, which one should I buy? I'd really appreciate guidance on this.

There is a perfect pixel Yamasaki 30" 2560x1600 display on ebay for $399 regularly, free shipping. The only issue is that the backlight does not use LEDs, so it runs a little hot, and the typical issues of buying a display from Korea where you can't just take it back to the store and exchange it easily.

What kind of experience are you looking for? What's the rest of your setup?

Do you want the best 1080p experience? Or the best 1440p experience? or even 1600p?

There are a lot of options at or around that price point.

One 7850 on a non-overclocked pre-Sandy @ 3.2. 1080p is fine for my modest use, though I will upgrade everything else during the summer.

Grab a 1ms 1080p then overclock your monitor ,, I will guide for for dat in future... Anyhow I made a custom res, Im running it at 2560x1600 @ 70hz 1ms its not LED but you can get this for 200 bucks,,,,,.and its not glossy btw,, I h8 dat ,, they have it on all TVs and monitors now.... Plus I used one since 2010 dec til April 22nd. model is

SyncMaster P2770 ... I got it for 280 at that time so now it will be a easy buy...

I just got http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C18YQ8Q today and I'm pretty happy with it; I'm pretty lax about monitors though as I was using a 32" 720P TV for a long time. It's way under your budget, but it kind of sounds like you're not looking to get anything fancy.

It was 220 when I ordered it two days ago >.< now it's 250
