I have 300Mbps Optimum cable internet. My old modem (Arris SB6183) has been rebooting a ton lately. I’ve tried using it will another router and cable with no luck. Support didn’t see anything on their end causing the problem.

Which cable modem do you all recommend and which should I avoid? I don’t want to spend a lot of money so refurbished, renewed or used in good condition is fine with me.

As per Optimum's support page

"Optimum Internet (no phone service) customers who want to use their own modem or Gateway can use a DOCSIS-certified DOCSIS 3.1 modem for all internet speeds.
To ensure the health of our network, we do not allow DOSCIS 2.0 or DOCSIS 3.0 modems to be use."

Arris, Netgear or Motorola would be my choice. This is the one I use as a backup: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2673226296...ftOsKBq/bORYB0w==|tkp:Bk9SR9aY-oyAZg&LH_BIN=1

The person from tech support mentioned that I had an older docsis 3.0 modem but did say it would work regardless. I wouldn't mind an upgrade though since my modem was purchased used from ebay in Jan. of 2018.

Thanks for the modem suggestion. I snagged one and hopefully it resolves my issue.

For about $40, it's a pretty good deal, IMO.
