Which model of xbox 360 should i look out for?

was there a bad batch of xboxes(first realease) and is there a new verison coming out that has a lower failure rate than the second gen 360's(assuming there was a 2nd gen after the first batch of really bad ones. If theres a model number i should know about of anything like that it would help alot.
