WHICH MOBO?

I just bought a Athlon Xp 1700+ and was wondering which is a good motherboard for it? I'm not looking for anything pricey...just want a decent/good motherboard around 100$ or less. If anyone has any info. please post. thanks.🙂

For that little money it's hard to find a good DDR board, you could get some great SDRAM boards, but the only DDR board for under $100 NEW that I can think of is prob. the K7S5A... you can get refurbs of other good boards for less than $100 though for sure..

if you don't plan on OC'ing get the ECS, can't beat a GOOD MB for about $60.00 shipped. that's very sweet.

if you do want to OC then u can look at the EPOX board. me, i'd get the ECS board, oooops. i have it. 🙂

so everybody agrees that the epox is the best for the money?

I wouldn't say it's the best buy for your money. It's a great board with proven stability and a host of overclocking features. As far as a "best buy", I would recommend the Shuttle AK31 rev3. for $76 or the ECS K7S5A if you're feeling lucky...😀

get either the epox or the shuttle board. i love my epox, but i recommend the shuttle for most people because of price. the epox has plenty more features and is definitely worth the extra money, so it is your choice.

I recommend the Shuttle AK31A. I used a bunch of them and did not have any problems except the chipset fan died on most of them within a week.

You jinxed me MWink! I opened my box up to do a little air-can dusting and there was my chipset fan sputtering along. What really pisses my off is that the little BLORB I have in my "box-o-parts" is too big because Shuttle stuck a cap right next to the Northbridge...
