I am planning on building a computer with an AMD XP 1900. I have been reading all the reviews I can find, but still cannot decide. Currently, I am looking at Abit's KR7a, Assus A7V266-E and Soyo's K7V Dragon Plus. I do not plan to overclock or play games, mostly office applications and graphics programs (web design), etc.
Thanx in advance!

If you don't overclock and don't need raid, get a shuttle ak31 version 3.1 ($80 newegg), and save some dough. With the money you save, you can get extra memory or a better video card. I use a gainward ti 500 geforce 2, with 4 ns memory, and it's plenty fast.

For $100, you can get the EPoX 8KHA+. I think that $20 more is worth it because the Epox board is quite a bit faster, has a port80 card (which may help a bit), has mucho overclocking in bios (you may change your mind and overclock later) and is overall a very nice board. :)
But you'll have to decide which board to buy. Anyway, the moral is that Abit KR7A Raid and Asus A7V266-E are both grossly overpriced.

Selecting from your original list I would recommend the Dragon plus. It meets your present needs and will also give you a lot of future growth potential at a reasonable cost.
