Wondering which mobo maker has the best cust. service? Mainly RMA but also helpful support and timely updates.

Thanks,
BGC

Bwahahahahahaha!

There is none that even has an acceptable level of support or, timely updates let alone "best."

You might instead ask: which brand is of such good quality, that you wouldn't likely NEED phone in/email support. Other than down-loadable bios updates.
My guess: Apple & Gigabyte.

eVGA. ;)
(at least on the boards which carry lifetime warranties)

You can mod it to hell and back and they'll still warranty it as long as you're not retarded.

I'd be interested in motherboard warranty service and support as well. Seems like this is sorely lacking in the industry. I wish Anandtech motherboard reviews still looked into warranty service like they used to.

How about those that are terrible at warranty service and support? For instance, ASRock does not want you to even RMA stuff to them, saying to go through the reseller. Guess what? Most resellers have a 30 day policy and then tell you to go through the manufacturer. I think ECS is like that as well as some others. Then there are the more responsive companies like Asus... and their "boomerang" policy on RMAs. If the board isn't actually dead, they just send it out as another RMA replacement. If the same serial number gets RMA'd multiple times then they will check on repairing it. There's a thread around here regarding Intel doing this as well.

I've always had a possitive experience with eVGA - too bad their mb's are way overprised compared to the competition.

I've only had to RMA 3 boards in 10 years.

1st was an Abit, but that's moot now. Nonetheless the RMA was smooth.

2nd was a Gigabyte 965-DS3, took quite a few emails, but once the RMA was approved I got a replacement in reasonable time.

3rd was a buddy's EVGA, forget the model, one of the Nvidia chipsets, RMA and the process was easy, smooth, and pretty quick.

Take from that what you will.

Intel is usually pretty good and has the best track record of providing timely updates for a longer duration than you'll find anywhere else. Of course, it helps that Intel is the one who controls the firmware/microcodes/drivers for its own IP, but its also is pretty good at providing periodic updates to third-party devices and bundled utilities (Intel's server board support, in particular, is stellar).

But these days, they're all pretty much a choice between varying degrees of sub-optimal support and customer service. IOW, its not a question of who is 'better', but who is less worse.

Well you know you get what you pay for, you're no stranger to the concept seeing as how you own an X200T.
