Can anyone tell me what kind of parts I need to run a P4 1.6 in 2.4?
Which Mobo should I buy?

I'm looking for a non-expensive one, but I do want stability and it must have the ability to run that 1.6 in 2.4 mode...!

Do I need a new Power-supply?

Is it certain that I will be able to hit 2.4 with that chip, or at least break the 2GHz clock-speed?

Would an Athlon XP 1800+ be a better choice?

Thanks for any input,

I lub my Asus P4B266-C. I went ahead and got a Promise TX100 Raid card rather than trying to find a board that had it and have to find another when I upgrade. Just bit the bullet and spent the extra money. I'm running 150fsb (2.4ghz) right now at 1.65 stable. Ran Prime95 and 3dmark2k1 overnight and was still running when I got up :)

Don't like being at that high a voltage, but whatever :)

Only thing with the P4B266 is no 3:4 mem ratio above 132 FSB. This is the reason I didn't get one. The EPOX allows 3:4 @ any FSB. This is a very big advantage. For instance, 133 FSB = 266 DDR on the ASUS, 354 DDR on the EPOX. 150 FSB = 300 DDR on the ASUS. 400 DDR on the EPOX. Mem BW is key on a P4 system. The EPOX is the best i845 board out there IMHO (and many others).

i don't know whether or not the 1.6 can hit 2.4. are you talking about the 1.6a. those are very different cpu's that have different performance. i myself have a 1.6a and can hit 2.4. it is not guranteed that you'll hit 2.4 but it seems like a lot of people are doing so, so the odds are in your favor. also, you have to get a good mb to hit 2.4. once again, i have the asus p4b266 and a lot of people can hit 2.4 with it. hitting 2.4 is not just about mb and cpu, you have to get good ram, very good power supply to give it clean juice, and other stuff. my rig is only 2 months old, so check out my rig and get similar products.
