Which moBo for new system?

Hi all...

My PC busted recently and now I'm planning to get a new one. I've got most of the parts figured out but can't decide between moBo's. I can't even decide between AGP or PCI-E!

I know PCI-E is the way of the future and more upgrade-proof. The thing is, I've never actually 'upgraded' my PC before. I usually just end up getting an entirely new system every 2 years or so. Ultimately, 'future proof' usually doesn't mean too much to me (but doesn't mean it won't this time).

Therefore, I originally planned on getting an ABIT AV8 and an AGP version of GF6600 GT. But some mates said I should seriously consider PCI-E. I started reading some reviews and saw a few that are fairly cheap which I'm considering. So if anyone has any comments on these PCI-E boards, I'd really appreciate it!

On the other hand, is there a good reason not to go AGP if I'm about 90% sure I won't upgrade my Graphics card until my next full system replacement in about 2-3 years time?

As of right now, you should go with AGP and save a few bucks. (as long as you are sure you aren't going to upgrade) As for motherboards, I would get MSI K8N NEO2 PLATINUM and the 6600gt or better.

If you're building a new system go with the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum. PCI-E video cards are cheaper since companies don't have to place an AGP-PCI-E bridge on it.

All of the boards mentioned are going to add about (AU) $70 or more, compared to the ABIT AV8. As for the Neo 2 Platinum, I can get nForce 4 boards for a similar price. Are these moBo's you guys mentioned particularly good? I don't overclock either, so that's not a factor at all.
