Ok, this is the last thread on mobo debate for me i swear.

But i now have these 2 motherboards, and must decide which one is best for my purposes, being an HTPC. Therefore Stability and Speed are a must. Is there that much speed differecne between 133 & 133a chipsets? Is it worth it?

Has anyone had any significant common problems with the MSI or Abit?

Hey there,

Oh yea.......I had severe probs with the ABIT boards. My first one died in 3 months KT7 and the second one KT7A-raid
died that same day. You might think it could be the place I bought it from, but seriously 1 DAY I THINK NOT!!!
I have an MSI board now and I have had NO probs yet with the board. I have more probs with WINDOWS ;).
The MSI boards are known for their stability if that is what you are looking for. Oh yea...the MSI boards are now doing over-
clocking as well. These boards have the extra capacitors that allow for stability. Just make sure you have a good heatsink if you are overclocking. Oh another thing to consider is the upgradeability of the boards. MSI gives bios revisions that allow for new CPU support.

If you are unsure why not make a poll here. MY Opinion = MSI all the way, you will be very happy :D

Hope that helps.

MSI K7T turbo 2 is my choice, but the Abit can get similar results and is completly jumperless...MSI tho

Hey there,

The KT 133 vs. KT 133A. The KT 133A is the successor of the 133. It helps the IDE ATA 100 controller.
Yes, the KT133A is better.

Just an FYI

While I generally stay away from the K7T Turbo boards, from bad experiences with the K7T Turbo Pro2-A boards, given the Abit KT7 as the other choice...MSI.
