Which Microsoft xbox 360 Controller Should I Buy?

I plan to by a wired xbox contoller to use with my PC. Microsoft offers two versions: One is called an "xbox Controller", is black and is $30 at Newegg. The other unit is called an "xbox Controller for Windows", is silver and is $37 at Newegg. Both controllers have an MSRP of $40 and both would work with my system. I prefer black and $30.

Is there any reason why I should buy the more expensive "for Windows" version?

There's no difference between the two. Drivers are loaded automatically in Windows Vista or 7 when you plug in any official xbox controller.

Do you mean the tweaked silver one with an adjustable D-pad?

anybody seen any of the wireless adapters for PC? These were sold a few years back and as far as I know are the only way to get a wireless 360 gamepad hooked up to a PC.

Edit: Looks they are back in available outlets.

If you play old school games, I'd consider getting something other than an X-Box controller. The D-pad is basically just an analog stick with a funny top and is terrible for older console games/fighters. Barring that you can ignore this post.

The description did not mention anything about an adjustable D-pad.

To those of you that answered my question, thanks for the advice. I ordered the black "regular" controller.
