Which Memory to use for OC

Hi, I'm new to OC and wonder what Memory to use. I'll be using a XP1600+, I hope to get it up to 180+ MHz, on a EPoX 8K5A2+ or 3+. I'll use PC2700 or higher but what bran and so on.

Thanks Micael

the genuine samsung pc2700 can often times get to 180mhz and higher for a reasonable price (seems like a 512mb stick is around $150 at newegg.com)

or you can spend around $220 and get some of the corsair pc3200 (rated at 200mhz and can often times get up to 215mhz and higher)

True Samsung DDR333 - 512GB is $163 at Newegg, you can get Qty (2) of the 256GB for $ 73 each ( $ 146 ) Crucial is a little higher, but you can buy direct from Crucial and get free freight. Avoid the Eye-Candy sticks with heat spreaders, they're not worth the upcharge, and they are usually Samsungs anyway.

Full ahead Mr. Sulu, Warp 5 to Alpha sector

Thanks guys, so what kind of MHz can I expect out of a XP1600+ AGOIA week 13 Third row starts with a Y. Could I get over 180 MHz without water cooling.

Thanks Micael

each chip is different, but most likely you can run a 166mhz fsb (that would be 1750mhz.. default for a 1600+ is 1400mhz)

So I have been looking at some memory and wonder if I should use CAS 2, 2.5 or and so on. And I wonder what all that means and the timing as well. Should I pick 256 MB or 512 MB. I'm a little bit on a budget but don't want to get some cheaper memory but maybe I don't have to get so much of it, but if less memory will hold back my OC in anyway I guess I just have to find the money.

Thanks Micael

cas2 is faster then cas2.5... but the rating only says what its guaranteed to run at, in your motherboards bios settings you can choose to run your memory at cas2 (even if its samsung cas2.5) and 99times out of 100 genuine samsung will run no problems at the faster memory timings

You don't need PC3200, the PC2700 is just fine for your rig, and it as a CAS 2.5 should have no trouble running at the CAS 2 setting.

I got a computer for my girlfriend,
good trade, huh?
