Hi, I'm new to OC and wonder what Memory to use. I'll be using a XP1600+, I hope to get it up to 180+ MHz, on a EPoX 8K5A2+ or 3+. I'll use PC2700 or higher but what bran and so on.
True Samsung DDR333 - 512GB is $163 at Newegg, you can get Qty (2) of the 256GB for $ 73 each ( $ 146 ) Crucial is a little higher, but you can buy direct from Crucial and get free freight. Avoid the Eye-Candy sticks with heat spreaders, they're not worth the upcharge, and they are usually Samsungs anyway.
Thanks guys, so what kind of MHz can I expect out of a XP1600+ AGOIA week 13 Third row starts with a Y. Could I get over 180 MHz without water cooling.
So I have been looking at some memory and wonder if I should use CAS 2, 2.5 or and so on. And I wonder what all that means and the timing as well. Should I pick 256 MB or 512 MB. I'm a little bit on a budget but don't want to get some cheaper memory but maybe I don't have to get so much of it, but if less memory will hold back my OC in anyway I guess I just have to find the money.
cas2 is faster then cas2.5... but the rating only says what its guaranteed to run at, in your motherboards bios settings you can choose to run your memory at cas2 (even if its samsung cas2.5) and 99times out of 100 genuine samsung will run no problems at the faster memory timings
