If my athlon xp has a bus speed of 266MHz and my mobo has a FSB of 333MHz, Should I get a PC2100 DDR or will PC 2700 DDR memory work just fine.

If I do get PC 2700, will there be any performance increase over PC 2100 keeping in mind that my athlon xp has a bus speed of 266MHz?

Any thoughts and answers will be greatly apreciated

the bus speed and FSB (front side bus) are the same.

The 333 part is probably the memory speed, (or support for CPU with 333Mhz FSB (166MHz DDR)) , PC2100 is also known DDR266 (133MHz DDR) , depending on your motherboard you should be able to run with PC2700/DDR333 (166MHz DDR), your CPU will only take the first 2.1GB(PC2100) of bandwidth, however if you have the 2.7GB(PC2700) then you other devices will use the extra bandwidth, so there will be a performace boost.

Also Having PC2700 would make for an easier upgrade to 333MHz FSB Athlons 🙂.
