Which Memory is better?

Hi, I am considering a Memory upgrade (quite possibly the last upgrade for this rig, then it's off to an A64). I typically use Corsair memory, but have been tempted to try some more Patriot.

I already have a 512MB stick of Corsair 2,2,2,5 and am most likely going to buy a matched set to bring me up to 1.5GB. THIS is the matched set for about $185 shipped.

THIS is the Patriot memory with the same specs I had also been considering. It is only about $15 cheaper, so price isn't a real issue here.

Which do you guys think is the better set of memory, and why?

-Thanks, Ken

I always try to get the same RAM as possible. I have the Corsair XMS-XL 2-2-2-5 RAM too and it's the best DDR400 RAM out there.

Yeah, I am pretty sold on getting the Corsair, but I haven't followed memory in a while and wasn't sure if the Patriots were 'TCCD' or whatever is the hottest memory right now.

I also am not sure if this memory will be used in my next rig (A64 probably in 6 months). I am not trying to be 'future-proof', but still want to be open to the possibility. I have a lot of research to do before setting up my next rig and if it wasn't for me enjoying BF2 so much, I probably wouldn't even be upgrading my memory (although, I kinda do have $200 burning a hole in my pocket).

If anyone wants to comment about using PC3200 in a A64, please feel free to. From what I can see if I stick with my AGP 6800GT, I will most likely re-use my PC3200. If I go to PCI-E, I will probably get DDR2. That's just a guess, but I am betting that it will either be a brand new rig, or I will use some parts from my current rig.

DDR400 runs great with an A64. I have 1GB of Corsair XL RAM and it's a sweet combo with my SKT939 3200+. Latency doesn't matter that much with the A64 though. But the low latency allows for a great deal of OC'ing.

Thanks, I appreciate the info.

I do dis-agree with the statement "Since they are both using TCCD chips, I'd go with the cheaper one". Since the price difference is so modest, I will go with the Corsair. I just prefer knowing that more then likely, I will be able to take them up on their lifetime warranty. I do like the Patriot products, but who knows how many years they will be around?

Thanks for the links, there is a lot of info that I need to read up on in them. I was surprised to read of some of the stats. they show (I just looked them over quickly).

Thanks for the suggestions.

OK, I just ordered the Corsair from Newegg for $186 shipped. I'll probably post when I get it and run it (let's see what it'll do!).
