Which memory Evan

I just ordered an Asus P4C800-E with a P4 2.8C and need memory to get. I read your review on memory Evan and need some help for this mobo. Is the Crucial ok for a non overclocked system.

You tested it with the Asus P4C800 not E so I was wondering if its any difference. Would the Crucial O/C a bit if I chose to do so later?

I was thinking of getting the Corsair XMS3200 TwinX 1024 memory for $220.00 from Frys also.

Any help here would be appreciated from anyone including Evan.

Also will the Crucial do the lowest timings 2 5 2 2 or there abouts not overclocked?

Yes, the Crucial will work perfectly fine at stock speeds. As for your othe questions, no one will be able to answer you for sure. Anytime you attempt to run a component out of spec, whether it be clock speed or timings, it's never a sure thing, and you'll never know until you try it. The Crucial PC2700 I have right now will run at 193MHz DDR all day long without any problems, but I used to have some Crucial PC2100 CAS 2.5 that wouldn't run at CAS 2 even at stock speeds.

My new rig using two sticks of Crucial PC3200 512MB (micron chips):

p4 2.6c @ 3.25GHZ (5:4 ration, ram at cas 2.5-3-3-7, primed all night like a rock)
Abit IS7
SLK800U
WD120GB SE
Allied True 450W

ANd I haven't even started to play with it yet😀! My 2.6c does 3.25ghz at stock voltage! I will find how far this crucial stuff goes later this week when I have more time to play.

I went ahead and ordered the Corsair 3200 TwinX from Frys, for the money it seemed the best way to go. Yes the Crucial was cheaper but not by alot, this way I at least got the so called matched pair, as if that makes a difference or not.

The timings wont be that big of a deal since I can get a good boost of speed from the 800 mhz CPU. I HOPE 😀
