but are they 80min cdr or 80min cdrw? i can find lots of 80mins cdr but even on maxell, verbatim or imation websites, have no mention of 80min CDRW only CD-R, that's why i'm wondering if any other companies besides the ones i listed make 80min CD-rewritables.

Look for Fujis, or Yamaha. Most all CDR media will work with the newer burners... but not all will last. Are you just interested in CDR"W"?... or CDR's?

I'm looking for 80min "cdrw" it seems only pny, memorex and tdk makes them, I know i won't get memorex again, their cdr & cdrw work well in memorex drives but in my aopen drive, they stink, and tdk seems to be high quality by cd copy worlds words and I guess PNY is 2nd place.

Are all these CDRW media 4x or are any of them 10x ??? I have a Plex 161040 and cannot find a single 10x CDRW disk locally.

Has anybody got any idea of cost and availability of 10x CDRW media ??

CompUSA sells thier branded 80min 1-4x CDrws, they work fine for me. Imation and Memorex have 4-10x (high speed) 650meg CDrws around here (SoCal).

subman,

My local Fry's (Oregon) has 10x Yamaha CD-RW at $10/3 and 10x Imation at $12/5. Both are 650MB discs.

Mirror Media over here in the UK is going nuts. Everyone is raving about them. I bought 100 of them but have not tried them yet. There 80Min/700MB A-Grade and capable of recording up to 12x.

It would be nice to find a review of them if it exists anywhere.

;)

[edit]

Sorry CDRW. I miss read the Post. These are CDR only. :frown:

all the 80min cdrw i found are only 4x rewrite, i haven't seen any 10x 80min cdrw that are name brand, only some generic ones from other posts, but I'd rather use a TDK at 4x than some generic 80min cdrw that claims it can do 10x.

I have used TDK's for a couple of years now and never had any problems. I have also used the 3 color Maxells, burned a couple of coasters but they weren't that bad. I really think alot of it has to do with what CD-RW you are using. Both of my CD-RW's are HP's. The first one was a 4x2x24 and the one i currently have is a 10x4x32. I, knock on wood, haven't burned a coaster with the new drive and rarely did with the older drive but when I did it was never with the TDK's.

I use CDRWs extensively as backup media for my computer as well as other peoples computers. I run Ghost on computers and backup the files created onto CDRWs. I have over 60 CDRW disks mostly HP brand. I have used these disks for upto 2 years without a single problem - so far. I find it a pain to burn 8 disks at a time at 4x speed. It takes forever at 4x.

It would be a pleasure to do all these burns in 7 minutes on a 10x disk instead of the 20 mins it takes 4x disks. I remember I did a 6 disk burn at 4x of a computer and it turned out that I had done the D drive instead of the C :(
