Which m/b to get?

In terms of performance / stability which one would be best? Gigabyte 7DX+, Chaintech 7VJDA or Jetway 867AS.

The Gigabyte has the AMD 761 chipset, while the Chaintech and Jetway have the VIA KT266A.

Does the AMD 761 allow the memory to run a-sync like the VIA chipsets, that is, run the memory bus at 266, when using a Athlon/Duron 200MHz FSB?

Cheers

Both chipsets should work fine with any athlon or duron cpu with 266 ddram. Some of the 761 boards may not have a bios upgrade to run the xp cpu. Stick with a kt266a board for performance and value. I don't own any of those boards. I recommend a kt266a gigabyte, shuttle or epox board. My last xp board was the ak31a; only $42 shipped (refurbished) from newegg.com.

Yeah, I have a Shuttle AK31 3.1 in another one of my systems. It's been pretty good in terms of stability and performance. I looked at getting another Shuttle for my other system, but they are expensive now, compared to the competition - they are around $190AU, where the rest of the KT266A's are about $120AU (the AMD 761 is only $115).

Does anyone have the Gigabyte 7DX+ running? I downloaded the manual for the board, and checked out the BIOS options, but could not see a "DRAM Clk" option like in the VIA boards where you can choose to run the memory at either 200/266.
This raised the question if the AMD761 will automatically run the memoy bus A-sync when DDR2100 and a 200MHz FSB CPU is installed.

Can anyone confirm this?

Cheers
