Which Linux?

What's the best Linux to use for casual use like web surfing? Red Hat Fedora? I'm a little familiar with Red Hat 7.2 which was free years ago. Or should I try Slackware, Mandrake, Suse, or other? I will dual-boot with XP, so is any of them faster to switch over?

Would support of a fairly recent video card like an ATI Radeon X700 256 MB be a problem?

They should all be fine. Do a search in the OS forum. This gets asked frequently.

The Radeon might be an issue, depending on how the X.org or XFree86 drivers handle ATI cards. Something like Fedora, gentoo, or SuSE might be the best bets for a situation like this.

Use SuSE. Very straightforward install for novice linux users. When installed on a HD with WinXP it will automatically configure the dual boot for you.
