Which linux to use first UBUNTU or OPENSUSE?!

THe difference between the 2 (AFAIK) is Suse has RPM package management, and Ubuntu has Debian. I prefer Ubuntu. I had Red Hat 7.2 and the dependencies were a nightmare (it might have changed since then)

I'm in love with Debian based distros, so I'll have to suggest Ubuntu over Suse as mentioned above.

Can't remember how easy it was to setup the 3d desktop stuff in Ubuntu, but its incredibly easy in Suse. You might not even have to enter the command line at all.

ubuntu. I generally prefer gentoo, and like where it's going, but I'm currently using ubuntu quite happily. I tried it out, and it has worked wonderfully for me, and there's no real reason to switch back.

xgl/aiglx/nvidia 3d extensions work great (just using nvidia 3d compositing), so does beryl, and the instructions to get it working are very simple to follow. It's basically, install hardware drivers, add a repository, apt-get a few programs, edit a config file or two, and restart.

I've tried SuSE a few times and have never liked it. Just my $.02

Myself I prefer Suse 10.2 64bit.
I didn't find Ubuntu's 64 bit as freindly.

I would make sure your hardware supports 3D first.
Google and see if your video card is supported.
If you have cable....Download Ubuntu and Suse live CD's and see which distro you like better.

You really can't go wrong with either one.
