Which linux is the most popular these days?

Ubuntu. With all the derivatives combined, no other distro is close. If you're asking because you want to use something, pick what *you* want. Try a few live to see which you like best.

+1

The best way to find out what you like is to download some live CD versions, boot them on your system, and give 'em a whirl. I personally like Linux Mint with the either the MATE or Cinnamon desktops, but to each his/her own.

The nice thing about 'free' is that it doesn't make your pocketbook a limiting factor in your experimentation.

Linux Mint is pretty cake and it is indeed based on Ubuntu. Peppermint is even more efficient. I've been playing with the Zorin OS lately. My server professor is a hardcore Debian guy but then again he never installs a GUI. In server class we named our virtualized Linux server Desbian 😀

I am confused that which linux is popular among users?. Help me out !
Thanks !

Just use mint. Unless you're a linux guru trying all thats available out there from the get go will just make you want to punch kittens, try mint see how you go with that and then explore from there.

Probably Ubuntu and Linux Mint,I use both and their forums also offer good support from members/users.

End of the day you can try as many as you like and find your own favourite Linux distro,no real right or wrong where Linux is concerned.

PCLinuxOS, Chakra, and Manjaro are superb. So don't forget those. I ditched Ubuntu, and all of its derivatives personally, for stability, and other reasons.

Ubuntu is based on Debian, so i would have said Debian and all it's derivatives 🙂.

But Ubuntu is one of the most popular by far. It keeps within the cutting edge of the Linux kernel supporting most hardware and has a massive community.
