Which Linux distro would you use on a 200 MHz Pentium Pro?

I believe it's got 64 MB of RAM, but I know the processor info is correct. Found it in the closet at my parents' house yesterday. It's now mine. 🙂

None, I'd just throw it away.
Send it to me! 🙂

I've got a PPro200 with 128mb ram that I'll be doing the same thing with eventually.

 to vintage hardware...

I ran a CVS server and emule downloader on a P200 non-pro /32mb RAM using Debian and it worked pretty well. of course I didn't run a GUI on it; accessed it through SSH only.

Whatever you choose, download the kernel source and rebuild it sans everything you don't need. I recommend Debian myself.

That's hard to do for a n00b like me. 😕

Gentoo. And you definitely should compile your own kernel, you've got to learn at some point. The instructions should guide you through the basics, so long as you can read and follow orders.

Gentoo would take about 20-years to install on that box 🙂

But when it finishes it will be optimized--rocketing ahead at 0.02% faster than precompiled Debian! I still recommend Gentoo.

I believe you can run linux on a 486, so a P200 pro wouldn't be that bad...but still. Thats going to be awfully slow, even for a print server.
