Which Linux Distribution is most Popular?

Know of any links to sites that show the popularity of the flavors? I keep hearing Rhat is the most popular, but so far, no real evidence beyond the rumors.

I prefer Freebsd in the unix's and Debian under the linux's. But of them all I prefer Freebsd. So my personal rating would be:

Freebsd then Debian then everyone else.

Im getting ready to move my server to some form of linux and right now the two front runners are Red Hat and Mandrake.... Mandrake seems the best for me because its supposedly the easiest to install/use which is important to me because this will be the first time Ive ever run a server under linux. But Im hearing mandrake has more problems with certain server applications that Red Hat so I dont know for sure which one I'm going with. Anybody have any preferences between these two as to which one makes the better server?

Both are pretty crappy - go with gentoo or debian, IMO they are easier to deal with.

Check out distrowatch: http://distrowatch.com/

The top 5 in terms of clickthroughs on that site as of right now are:

1 Mandrake 647
2 Yoper 615
3 Red Hat 599
4 Gentoo 444
5 Debian 373

Slackware, my favorite, is holding strong at 8. 🙂
