Just picked up a VP171b today from Mwave and I'm thinking of returning it. I play ALOT of Counter-Strike and the monitor's 1280x1024 resolutions isn't supported by 1.5, but I think it is in 1.6. I had it set at 1024 and the screen just doesn't seem bright enough. My previous monitor was a 19inch Sony G420 that took up way too much space on my desk but it looks like I might just go back to that. For windowsxp use the monitor seems very crisp. However, I've been on a couple hrs now and my eyes are getting sore.

Also, is it normal for all Digital connections to say No Signal when you start up a game of CS? It seems to have a problem detecting the video input cause the screen glitches many times before the WinXP Welcome screen where it flashes a couple more times and then works fine.

Anyways, just giving my opinion since I might have to take the 15% restocking fee if I return it. SIGH

I havent experienced a problem in games with my monitor. I do not have CS, but I will pick it up and test it this weekend. I do play alot of games and havent had a problem yet. I hate you are having issues with the monitor. Maybe it is someting else beyond the monitor???

Well, I am finally back with my review of the NEC 1760NX that I bought from newegg. :)

It is simply a great monitor. No ghosting that I can tell, the colors and sharpness are unbelievable. The brightness is very intense and I had to turn it down. It runs nice at resolutions besides the native 1280x1024. I currently run the desktop at 1024 and most but not all games at 1280. Vice City, UT2003, Q3 all look fantastic. I believe my online gaming has gotten better simply because I can see what I am shooting at!

I thought I had a dead pixel but it turned out to be a spec of dust. No dead pixels. :D

Haven't tried the DVI yet because as others have mentioned, it does not come with a DVI cable. The analog display is so nice that I can't see wasting money on something I probably won't see a difference in. Although being the geek I am I will eventually get the DVI cable too! ;)

I would recommend this monitor without reservation to any gamer looking for an LCD. I'd buy another one if this one got stolen.

:D
