Ok, its time to upgrade the monitor. I have a 17" Viewsonic which has served me well but I am being drawn to the newer bigger screens. I read the LCD thread, got lots of ideas and recommendations.
I would like a great multi purpose monitor. I do some games, not enough to qualify for hard core gamer and do a fair amount of photoshop. A wide screen might nice if only for the extra real estate. I narrowed my choices to 3 and am always open for suggestions. If there is model soon to be released that will blow these away, I can wait, its no rush. So I have in no particular order:
1. Viewsonic VX2255wmb - I am a little turned off by the included speakers and webcam. As this is similarly priced to the next two, I can't imagine the quality of the extras. Would much rather get the quality monitor and the extras separately.
2. Samsung 226BW
3. LG L226WTY
I don't really want to spend any more than these cost. I would spend a little more for a model significantly better but other than that, this is where I am at.
Do any of these manufacturers offer better support or have a better dead pixel warranty, etc? If the monitors are all close visually, I would go with the company with the better support. I can't image how dissapointed I would be to open the box and find a dead pixel on the screen with little or no recourse.
