Which LCD to get?

I currently have a Sony 19" E400 (CRT) monitor, but i'm thinking of buying an LCD monitor to replace it. Should I go with an 18" LCD and get a decent one, or spend perhaps around the same amount and get a really good 17" monitor?
would I notice a big difference in screen size from going from 18" (viewable) to 17" LCD?

I can spend up to around £800 (not sure waht that is in dollars..)
any suggestions of model's are welcome.

forgot to mention, I'll be using it for word processing/web browsing/DVD's/occasional Gaming
 
hi,
you dont mention which video card you are using but i would defintely reccomend going dvi. i've found it to be superior to analog connections, sometimes in a very noticeable way. i've also liked the samsung 170t. i think that you dont lose too much going from a 18" to a 17".
