Heya guys, my current monitor started to die on me and it's time to replace it with some new goodness. I've narrowed it down to two monitors really, the BenQ G2410HD and the Viewsonic vx2433wm.

Which one should I go for considering prices are nearly equall on both and 24" is the sweet spot in price/size/panel type for me right now? I use headphones so no speakers is not a really big issue for me. If it helps i'm currently running an oced e6750 and an 8800gt.

Of course you are most welcome to suggest other monitors but my budget is pretty tight on this one and keep in mind I'm not shopping in the states.

Yuck, 1080p. I prefer 1200 vertical lines. The Viewsonic has a HDMI, otherwise they are mostly equal although Viewsonic's conspicuous bezels tend to bother me. If you are looking for a cheap 1080p, I'd recommend looking into the Dell G2410. It's LED lit so it consumes much less power. Can be had for around $210 + tax during sales.

I don't see the price anywhere, but those will probably cost $250-$300 or so. Let me tell you the text will be tiny at native resolution. Youll either want to run a lower resolution(ideally 960x540) or consider a larger monitor. I don't know what your budget is but if it's above $300, you can consider a LCD TV to use as a monitor.

Increasing the text size would be a very simple solution. Running at non-native resolution is not a good idea.

The pixel pitch on both of those is over .27. Doesn't that mean the text would be fairly large?

Not for my eyes. Maybe for someone with 20/20 vision without the need for glasses. The pixel pitch is .5 on my 32" LCD at native resolution and the text is just perfect.

Well then you might want to know if the OP has bad vision or not, because .5 is absurd for normal vision unless you sit way back. Text might look alright but GUI elements and images will show the screen door effect.

I had a look at the dell but unfortunatly it's above the price range I'm looking at. The 1200 vertical lines monitors at sane prices seem to have all disappeared as well.

The question on dot pitch is interresting, as I do have a slight astigmatism but don't have to wear glasses for any normal activities, so I don't think it will be a large isssue.

I'm still sitting on the fence on this one, wondering whether the extra hdmi port will be usefull on the viewsonic campared to the bezels...
