I am going to be buying a laptop this summer and would like to know which one you guys would recommend. Everybody says Dells are wonderful, but I personally can manage to crash a Dell in Notepad, and I don't want to have to put up with that in a brand new laptop either. So, it's down to the following two computers:

A self-configured Dell:

Dell Inspiron 6000
=========================================
Pentium M 730 (1.6 GHz)
512mb DDR2 SDRAM (1 DIMM)
80GB Hard Drive
8x DVD+/-RW
9-cell Lithium Ion Battery
ATI Mobility Radeon X300 PXI Express x16 64mb
Intel PRO/Wireless 2915 Internal Wireless 802.11 a/b/g
15.4" WXGA LCD
Windows XP Professional
1 Year Warranty

OR

This, but not from here.

Because of my experience with Dells, I am leaning toward the Qosmio. If you do the poll, please add why you chose what you did in the thread. Thanks! :)

What are you going to use that laptop for?

If it's for extensive travelling, college work, or business use, you can't get any better than an IBM Thinkpad T-series.

It's going to be for all that you've mentioned, wisdomtooth, plus games, movie-watching, and various other media-related things.

Toshibas are usually build solid and they are reliable. Also Quosmio has more vram 128 vs 64. Overall, based on the quality of the brand and customer service, I would pick the Centrino Toshiba.
However, the Dell Inspiron 6000 possesses the x300 Pci Express card which is very future/upgrade proof. This GPU is adequate for an extreme gamer although Nvidia's video card solution in Toshiba will provide almost the same performance.
The DDR2 ram in the Dell is also more recent although it's speed is still comparably the same as the PC2700 ram in Toshiba's laptop due to DDR2's higher latency.
