I am looking to buy a laptop for email and light web surfing mainly. It is not to replace my desktop. I don't want to spend a lot and I realize that these are bottom of the line machines. I have narrowed it to two choices one by Compaq and the other Toshiba. They are both Celeron 2.0 w/256meg and each has a dvd/cdrw combo. The Toshiba is $799 and the Compaq is $50 more at $849. Other than that, these are the differences:
Compaq - 40gig hard drive, ATI Mobility RADEON 4X AGP 3D graphics; 64MB shared DDR video memory
Toshiba - 30gig hard drive, Integrated Intel® 852GM graphics controller with 32MB DDR SDRAM video memory; Direct 3D support and Direct Video
Which is the better machine? Any other brand, model or source?
