i voted latitude without looking at your post...now looking at it, i'm not sure. i know the dell d620 and d820 are solid laptops but i'm not sure about the d520. i'm sure the build quality is similar but whenever i see it on the dell page, it seems to me like it's a stripped down d620. i don't like inspirons so this would be a a tough choice for me but the Latitude definitely has the better build quality

My 2c -- for BUSINESS use and not even considering the specs, I would *always* recommend any latitude over any inspiron.

I just checked the delloutlet, and the cheapest D520 there is $839.00, but that is Core2Duo with a gig of RAM.

i had the ealier dells, the d800 and inspiron 8500/8600.. the d800 has more options and features.. the inspiron series is just okay...

so i vote for a latitude also

In Dell's own parlance - Latitudes are designed for business - Inspirons for home users. Go Latitude.
