Which laptop to get?

I've realized that I'll be in a position to get a nice laptop in the next 2 months. My question is, would any of you get one from Compaq or HP? I'd really like one from Dell but they just cost so damn much. I'd feel bad paying $50/month for one of theirs when I could get the same specs and pay $35/month on a HP. Thoughts/comments/suggestions?
 
I've had several Compaqs. Great laptop, many features for the money. If used is OK, check ebay, do a search for a Compaq 1800. You should be able to find a nice 1800, 15" TFT, 700mhz+ for around $1000. Beware, check for positive feedback of the seller. 🙂
