How are you gentlemen,

Here is my dilemma:

Dell Inspiron 600m | 1.60Ghz | 14.1-in SXGA+ | 4.98lbs | 6-cell 53Whr battery - $950 shipped
Dell Inspiron 700m | 2.00Ghz | 12.1-in WXGA | 4.10lbs | 8-cell 65Whr battery - $1220 shipped

all the other specs are identical:
- 1Gb DDR SDRAM
- 80Gb HDD
- 24X CD Burner/DVD combo
- 802.11 b/g, 54Mbps wireless
- 1yr Warranty
- Free Dell Color Printer 720

Thanks a bunch!

there was a 700m deal not too long ago, for about 850 bucks w/ tax and shipping, I hear they come ever month or so, you should wait on that.

700m > 600m

It's size, weight, build quality and beautiful 12.1" WXGA is just awesome.

Upgrade to the 8 cell battery, battery life is around 5 hours.

600m - the 700m's stock battery lasts about 1.5 hours. :|

And the 700m's upgraded battery sticks out like Oprah's rear end.

I think the 700m screen is too small. There's a big difference between 12 and 14 inches. I'd go with the 600m with the 1400x1050 resolution display. The standard 1024x768 is too big IMO. I've set up a few of these for clients and they're not bad lappys for the money. I do think my IBM is a lot nicer but it's also about 2x the price of a 600m.

so that 8-cell battery sticks out??

so far it seems to be 50/50... i mean.. 600m is cheaper

The screen is just right, it's the tiny KEYBOARD which is my #1 gripe.

My dream laptop would be the Dell Latitude D610 or HP DV4000 but they're not as compact as the 700m 🙁
