Which laptop to buy?

Hi all,

Im ready to by a laptop with an ATI 9600 graphics card. Im considering one of the following two:

Sager 5680
One of the dell systems once their available (most likely 8600)

Im leaving town for 7 months on Nov. 30 so I really want to get one before I go. Should I wait for the Dell (if they ever come out) or just buy the sager? Just wondering if the dell is that much better than the sager.

Any other suggestions for laptops with 9600? Im trying to keep prices down below 1500 if possible.

thanks,
Tom

Dell has removed all mention of the 9600 from the France and Spain web sites... looks like it was a sham. I am starting to think that Dell's listings with ATI mr9600XTs on the French and Spanish(Spain) web sites as well as their magazine adds were nothing but a marketing concocted lie. A lie designed to give them a few needed sales before every other manufacturers multimedia/gaming superiority became evident.

As for Pentium M and mr9600 the best choices are currently Nc8000, Nc6000, Nw8000, IBM T41p, and T50p (not listed in any particular order)...

I may wait and see if Dell releases the 9600 this month, like I've been told by some tech support guys there. If it's not released this month I will move on to something else. Practically EVERYONE and their mom has released or announced the 9600 for their laptops, EXCEPT Dell. I'm hoping they release it ASAP.

how much battery life could that thing have...? 🙁

I have a Eurocom D500p which is basically the same thing (Clevo setup)with an M10 video card. The battery life on it is ~2hours. Not the longest, but it is more than enough for me, seeing as even when I take this puppy on the road I can always find power to plug it in...if not, the 2 hours is plenty.

Well, you'll be spending more than 1500 bucks here... but for anyone else interested in some of the most technologically advanced goodies that can be had in a lap top... look Here Make note of the Extreme Edition... also on the left column you will read about PuRam?... I'll let you learn about that when you click the link

Note:They use the same casing as the sager laptop I have.

Sagers build quality is better IMO. They are higher quality machines than the Dells, and from my experience have a much better keyboard. If you are going to be using the laptop alot the Sager would be my choice.

If he were looking at the Latitude line I would say build quality is a toss up, but he's thinking of an Inspiron 8600.

If he needs it by Nov 30th, then h'e'd better act soon.

Where are you going to for 7 months, would it possible to have it shipped there?
