Hello One & All,

I am in the Laptop market and need some advise. Here are the systems I am currently considering:

1. Apple AL17
2. IBM T40
3. Sager 8890 (Has the following - P4 3.2 w/HT, ATI 9600 w/128 VRAM, Raid 0 & 1)
4. Compaq X1000

So, which would you go with, but more importantly, WHY? If you have another recommendation, bring it on, but remember, WHY?

I will be using the Laptop as a Desk Top Replacement. It will be used for everything! From WP, SS, DB, PP, HTML, JAVA, PHOTOS, VIDEO, & G A M E S!!!!!

So let the reviews ROLL....

Sager looks good. The graphics card looks better than any of the others. Forget gaming on the Apple, since there are none.:disgust:

I have the X1000 and I like it. It has its problems though, as do all notebooks I'm guessing. Beautiful screen, nice design and compact for its size. Decent battery life (~4 hours after a few battery cycles) and is very speedy with the Centrino and the 9200.

Cons are the keyboard has issues right now, which is being fixed in a BIOS update (unresponsive shift key, alt, and ctrl keys); people are also experiencing "screen-blips" which may or may not be a driver issue (basically every so often, on some people's laptop, the screen will go black for a second and return, as if resolution was changed).

Only 1-yr warranty as well.

But for the price and the features, I couldn't find something that beat the x1000, so I went with it.

My config:

1.3GHz
512MB (adding 256 myself to save cost)
WSXGA
40GB 4200RPM HD
32MB Radeon 9200
Wifi + Bluetooth
DVD/CD-RW (32x)

~$1200 after rebate.

Asus M3N - Centrino model excellent build quality and excellent support from Asus. You will need a dealer to do the build for you, but you will save a lot of money without having to do MIR's.

PM me for more details.

T40 for sure..

for gods sake stay away from the sager.they are disgusting. 10 lb, 30 min battery life. 3 inch thick..you want that?

out of those choices id have to say the compaq or ibm...i wouldnt go w/ a sager...

/waits for IBM T40 fanboys to enter thread
