Which laptop is better?

they are both pretty much equal. both have 6 cell batteries. one has a slightly better processor. in other words, side by side you probably could not tell the difference between the two for what you would be doing with it

got the hd mixed up with the other one. processor won't really effect facebook, chatting, and watching movies

good reasons to get the 1st one but the 2nd laptop is not bad at all (3gb of memory)

the 1st one is a better buy IMO

I would choose #1 primarily due to the CPU. It is also a bit lighter to carry.

On the other hand, the BestBuy deal is pretty good as well, and if something does not work right, it's a lot easier to march it back to the store for a fix.

Either one will do what you want.

#1, based on the descriptions of each. You'd have a little more "headroom" for things you might do in the future because of the better cpu and larger hard drive. 2gb of ram is fine, by the way. The clincher is the weight. The Toshiba is 1.1 pounds lighter than the Compaq. It makes it a bit more portable. While neither are lightweights, 5.5 pounds should be more "luggable" than 6.6.
