I'm looking to get a Dell Outlet laptop for my wife (just basically for web browsing and e-mail). Which if these two processors is better?

AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-56 (1MB/1.8GHz)

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TK-55 (1.8GHz)

Is Turion better because it has more cache and that's it? Or is the Athlon better?

Thanks!

IIRC, the Turion is better. I believe they are using the Athlon name now for the low-end mobile processors (less power savings).

Hereis a link to AMD's naming scheme for their mobile processors- Basically the higher in the alphabet the letter, the better its mobile performance is. Therefore, the TL will perform better than the TK processor.

One thing that the TK might have over the TL is how cool it runs. The TL processors we're originally 90nm chips but have recently been produced in 65nm's. The TK is solely produced in 65nm chips though. Just some food for though.

Thank you. That is definitely helpful for identifying processors by AMD.

So I found this laptop. I have a coupon so it comes to $416 (plus tax and shipping). Seem pretty good for browsing and e-mail for a couple of years?
