Which LAN adapter to use?

Ok so i have the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe which has 2 gigabit LAN ports on it. I am currently using the one that is controlled by the nforce chip however the other is a Marvel Yukon. Is one better than the other? I tried to search for this but didnt see anyone that posted anything like it.

Oh also on a unrelated note, there is always an Unkown Device that shows up in Device manager. Even if i uninstall, it attempts to install it during the next boot up but can never find drivers. I cant for the life of me figure out what it is? It doesnt say anywhere. Any ideas how i can find out what this device is?

Thanks for any help

i always preferred the marvell yukon...the nvidia gigabit port is permanently firewalled (im pretty sure), and it restricts me from anything i do/use (WoW sucks with it and my connections crap out to my router and other networked computers).

im guessing you installed the sound drivers (realtek), marvell yukon, nforce (smbus and ethernet), and thats it?

Yeah i installed all of those. I just cant figure out what device is causing it. I even went through just about every device on my computer that i can think of and made sure they were installed with the proper drivers. Kind of odd if you ask me.

Any ideas on how to figure out what it is?

The Marvell controller is PCI bus, while the integrated NVIDIA controller has at least twice the bandwidth and lower latency access to the CPU/RAM.

The unknown device is probably the ASUS ATK ACPI interface used for all the ASUS "AI" utilities. You can leave it flapping in the breeze or just install the driver, whichever floats your boat.

secretanchitman, I believe your problem can be fixed with a BIOS setting. There is most likely a setting for Active Armor, or something like that. Its an NVidia thing that is known to completely screw up your computers networking. kill that, and you should be fine.
