Newegg has the MSI KT4VL -OEM $90 & the MSI KT4 Ultra (6590-010) RETAIL $109. Both have KT400/
VIA VT8235 chipset. I can't find any reviews on these boards. I've had good results w/MSI before, but I also don't want to be an "early adoptor" and get burned with a 1st generation board. Anyone have any experience with these boards? Or, any other KT400 sugestions for around $100. This chipset should be o.k. for that cheap cpu (AXP1600+AGOIA) right? Thanks very much! :)

Not a KT400 board, but take a look at the KT333 based Epox 8K5A2+. It's as fast or faster than most KT400 boards, overclocks awesome, and has the same 8235 southbridge as the KT400 boards. It has 6 USB 2.0 ports, 5.1 sound, ATA133/RAID, and onboard LAN, for under $100. More information can be found in the thread at the top of this forum..:) Unless you need AGP 8X, consider the more mature KT333 boards. :)

Insane3D, Sounds like good advice. With all those features how can you go wrong. I also have an older EPOX board. I know they are top quality & mine is solid. I guess sometimes I can't see the forest for the trees, eh? Anyway thanks. Probably this time next ,year a lot of us will have upgraded again, to something with PCI express & serial ATA. Does it ever end(my wife asks). Hasn't KT333 only been out a few months also??
