Which kind of DDR ram should I buy? Help Please

I have an IWill KA266 mobo with a 1.4 T'bird running Windows XP and I hope to overclock the CPU using the multiplier and the fsb. This mobo supports only DDR ram and I want to get the best ram for it . I have been looking at Corsair 2100, 2400 and 2700 ram; but I do not know the difference in the 2100, 2400 and the 2700. Which is best and why. Any comments or links would be appreciated. Thanks

PC2100=2.1GB/sec bandwidth and is PC133 at DDR, or 266MHz.
XMS2400 (no PC2400 spec actually exists)=2.4GB/sec bandwidth and is XMS150 at DDR, or 300MHz. Your front side bus must be overclocked to 150MHz to take full advantage of this.
XMS2700=2.7GB/sec bandwith and is XMS166 at DDR, or 333MHz. The front side bus must be clocked to 162.5MHz to take full advantage. While it seems like it would make sense to clock to 166MHz, the Athlon's front side bus is limited to only 2.6GB/sec of bandwidth. I would recommend XMS2700 if you have the money, but XMS2400 and even PC2100 will do just fine.

<< corsair is junk >>

It appears you are very uninformed. Corsair uses micon chips on a majority of it's modules. They are also a very respected memory mfg.

Iwill KA266? ALi chipset is almost as fast as KT133A.🙁 Your better off buying a new board with the faster KT266A chipset. Don't you remember to the first few original DDR article reviews, AMD 760 was the fastest but expensive, ALI and original KT266 where plagued with probs and offered minimal performance boost over SDR RAM until the Sis 735 showed up. GO KT266A.😀

<< IIRC, the KA266 doesnt have multiplier adjustments, so you can only raise the bus speed. Good luck >>

I beg to differ, the IWill KA266 has jumpers on the board that let you set the multiplier from 5 to 12.5. You can also change the multiplier in the BIOS. However the FSB jumper on the board only lets you set the FSB to 100 or 133. In the bios you can change the FSB to several different settings.

I'm swaying between Crucial and Corsair.

Can anyone else enlighten me on the path I should take?

The Corsair stick I'm looking at is PC2400 @ CAS 2
But the Crucial stick is PC2100 @ CAS 2.5 with ECC

Recommondations?
