Not factoring in what you'd actually be doing, would you rather work 10 hours a week for $25k per year or 50 hours a week for $100k per year?

6 figure income, definitely. Plus in my field I've regularly worked much more than 50 hours, so that is no big deal to me.

I need money to do things when I'm not working. The work itself must also be enjoyable.

Would depend on if I had other income on the side or if that was what I was trying to live off of. 25k won't get you very far in most places on your own.

It's earier with:

10hours/week $250,000/year
50hours/week $1,00,000/year

I'd do the 10 hours a week under scenario 1. Heck, I'd even take 10 hours in this scenario:
10hours/week $100,000/year
50hours/week $500,000/year

But when you are start talking about annual incomes of $25K ... there is no way I would do it.

On top of my GI Bill, I would go with the 10 hour, 25 grand job right now.
When I get out of college I would settle for any job that didnt drive me insane.

I know quite a few people who live on a sub-30k income and are quite comfortable. If you don't have kids or a car, 30k is a lot of money. My "poor" friends still have big screen TVs and a PS3 with lots of games, but they need to take the bus everywhere.

I would work 50 hours for the big money. I go crazy when I'm doing nothing for too long. There becomes no sense of urgency in anything I do; my time is not worth anything because there is so much of it. In this past year, there was a brief period where I was a full time university student and I also worked 20 hours per week. I didn't have a lot of free time, but I seemed to get a lot more done in that free time because I valued it too much to sit around and do nothing. I had dates and game nights and movie nights planned a full week in advance just so my free time was not being wasted. Any time in the past that I've had a bunch of free time, things like dates and small parties never happen because there was never a rush to make it happen.

Nothing to do? I find it hard to believe that....

10 Hours a week and 25 grand leaves too much free time with not enough money on hand, so I'd probably end up smoking too much pot and drinking too much beer. If I made 100g like someone above said working only 10 hours a week, I'd have plenty of money to keep myself entertained without the drugs and alcohol, but that's just me.

And please note, I haven't smoked and weed in 10 years or so, but maybe it's because I have so much to do right now.

I've done both, and while I really liked the free time of working low hours, living on $25K per year isn't easy, especially if you have/need a car to get around. Plus, it is tough to save much money on that kind of salary. Eventually you'll want to retire, and need more money for your health in old age.

Working long hours and making the big bucks really makes you value your time off, plus you have more money to do fun and cool stuff in your free time, like taking up expensive hobbies or traveling.

My normal work week for many years was 50 hours +, so that one would be no big deal for me.

The 10 hour job would be nice...but the money sux.

10 hours per week easily. My time's worth more than anyone can pay me. If I can make my bills, I'll take all the time I can get.

It completely depends on the job. If I am working 50 hours a week as a TV writer, I would take the $100,000 over working 10 hours a week for $25,000. If I was at McDonalds, I would work the 10 hours.

I make less than 25k working 25-40 hours a week so I'll take the 10 hours please!
More time to get out and have fun. I live in Utah, who needs money out here?

Mo hours, mo money. If I only got $25k a year, I'd probably be scrubbing toilets on the side, so it sure as hell won't be 10 hours a week.

Also, I've had most of the past year off unemployed, so screw free time. I need a purpose and job.
