Which Japanese dirt-bike is the best?

I hav'nt ridden in 13 yrs. I'm 30 and used to race 250cc Kawi's in the novice class as a kid. I'm thinking of getting another bike since this four wheeler thing just isnt for me. What brand should I look at? 2 stroke or four? I have heard four stokes have come along way sinc the "old" days.

I was thinking of getting a KX-500 since I saw a brand new 2001 for $4199 + tax etc. But in Ca. you can't ride a two stroke some places. Havent found out where yet.
 
I'd have to say the Yamaha YZ-250. I currently have a 1996 Suzuki DR350. I think I would rather have the 4 stroke version of the YZ-250.
