Which item is most likely the cause of my problems?

I have Telocity and I have to reset my Gateway or computer to get back a dropped adsl connection. When dropped the lights on the gateway are all green.

I have read that the Linksys 4 port router has issues and that it needs to be reset on occasion, but mine seems like everything is fine. Only the Gateway or computer needs to be reset.
I have returned 4 or 5 Telocity Gateways. The inside wiring guy says my house is ok. And the Telocity tech thinks everything is fine as well. I have tried taking the Gateway off the UPS and moving it very far from any items that could cause interference. I have swapped cables and still no luck.

I have to reset maybe 3-4 times a day. This is very inconvienent . If I am not home, I'd like my computer to be still accessible to others for the FTP server I have running. Any suggestions? :(

If it is the router, is the Barricade at Comp USA decent even though it is an older model?

Check your computer for power management configuration. Lots of NICs/drivers/computers default to "put the NIC to sleep" after some value of inactivity..like a couple hours.

Maybe your NIC is going into powersave mode, and it confuses the gateway.

FWIW

Thats pretty cool. I never knew there was that option on a NIC. I killed the power save on it. Hopefully this solves the problem. Thanks
