Which is the popular Klipsch 2.1 speaker model?

ProMedias, but keep in mind they're overrated round these parts. They're not overly exceptional for the price.

Yeah, $150 is a bit up there for a stereo set. I used to have a set of Logitech z-2200s, which I loved, but donated them to my dad when I moved into an apartment. Now I can put a sub in, but I wasn't pleased with the Logitech z-2300s when I heard them in person. Any other good options for around $100?

It's not that $150 is up there for a stereo set. I paid $1000 for my PC 'stereo set', it's what you get for the money.

The Promedias are good for $150, but there are competitive if not downright better alternatives people fail to consider.

Edifier s2.1 if you can find them are cheaper at ~$100, yet of the people that have compared the two, all are in favor of the Edifiers.

Swan T120s which are ~$50 more than the Promedias are considered much higher in performance.

And then there are the more mainstream brands such as the Logitech Z2300s or various Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers and so on, which might not be on par with the Promedias but for the asking price they're likely on par for value.

The point is the Promedia 2.1 are good for the asking price, just don't take that out of context; they're not the holy reference-point studio monitors some would have you believe.

That's good to know. From my mad research craze for new speakers the past few days, only consensus I've seen is that Promedias are up there with sliced bread. However, they are seriously overpriced here in Canada. The 2.1s go for $219 at best while the 5.1s are at last $499. Meanwhile the Z-5500s, though probably a bit boomy, are only $290. I don't doubt the Promedias are better, but seeing as I am 'upgrading', I am having a seriously hard time justifying $219 just to go back to 2.1s. The Promedia 5.1s are too much (I can afford, just can't justify $500 alone on speakers). Hope the Z-5500s are a bit more accurate than Z-2300s (current).

The swan website is http://www.swanspeaker.com/index.asp

Their multimedia page is http://www.swanspeaker.com/mul/index.asp

One good reason to respect Swan speakers is that they company provides full specification sheets for at least some models, such as the M200s. That's something very few companies do.

That's enough information to picture the entire sound characteristics of the speaker in your mind if you're proficient at making sense of the provided information. Apart from that though, they're good speakers with good build quality and certainly original aesthetics.

As for where to buy them,

Or run a froogle search,

and so on... 🙂

THanks. I still have a pair of the Swan Diva 2.1's, which are not hooked up now, but I did always like them. I've heard good things about the M200's, but really want a sub for general PC and gaming use. The only place froogle showed the T120's was a place in Canada. Haven't checked to see if they ship to the US or not.

Thanks for the detailed info!

Just picked up the Logitech Z-2300's for $133. I love them. Wildy overpowering bass, but if you turn it down it blends quite nicely. I'm in a dorm room, so i still havn't had the chance to unleash their full power. I've played FEAR and and watched V for Vendetta with them, and i was quite suprised at their performance. I'm powering them with a PCMCIA Audigy 2 ZS.
