What format do I need to record -on my PC- a TV show through WMCenter onto a DVD to be able to play it on a DVD Player?
Also, conversely, when I record a TV show in WMC to a DVD what is the default format which is used to save the show into a DVD?

Thank you.

Yes, the resolutions allowed are weird.

Containers can be converted, so as long as you use containers that can store MPEG video and uncompressed or MP2 audio, the audio and video can be made into files for the DVD without transcoding.

With that stuff taken care of, you will then need DVD authoring software, which there is plenty of, out there.

I've never used WMC as a DVR, so I don't even quite get the second question.

If you are using Windows 7, there is a program included with Windows called Windows DVD Maker. I haven't tested it in all formats, but so far it has been able to convert any video format that the computer can play (including add-on codecs not included with Windows by default) into DVDs that can be played back on any DVD player. It even has very simple but effective tools to create your own menus for the DVD.

DVD-Flick should take care of that for you, too. It's simple and best of all, free to download and use.
