Which is the better Radeon graphic card: 8500LE or 9000 Pro?

I have the Radeon 9000 Pro II (128MB) and was wondering if it is a better or worse performer than the 8500LE. I have alway though that the 9000Pro was the better performer (because it is a higher number and has double the memory of the 8500LE) but from what I have been reading it appears that I have been mistaken. Thank you:).

I'd say the 8500LE is a better performer... IIRC the 9100 is the predecessor to the 8500, and the 9000 is more along the lines of a 7500.

I am sure the first part is correct, but someone correct me if I am wrong bout the 2nd part.

cheers

The 8500LE?s were essentially re-badged and are now called 9100s to show they are faster than the 9000?s. The 8500/9100 are ATI?s old high end card and are faster than the 9000?s (ATI's new budget card).

The 9100?s usually have a 250mhz clock rate and the memory speed varies from 183 ? 250mhz DDR. The Sapphire model 9100 64MB is clocked 250/230 and is faster than a 9000pro by about 7-10%. Some 9100 cards are clocked 250/250 and are even faster yet.

Here are a few (foreign) reviews comparing the 9100?s to various cards ?

"along the lines of a 7500"

haha ha ha!

Nothing is like a 7500! It is the best video card ever made. Just wait...
It will be remanufactured at 0.13 micron, and clocked at 475 core / 333 ram ( 666 DDR ).
they'll rewire the tmus to loopback, to allow up to 12x multitexturing in a single pass.
Hyper Z IV will be included, of course, allowing lossless 64 to 1 Z compression, and KYRO-esque hidden surface removal efficiencies.
And a TV-wonder will be built in, right next to the rage theater chip.

950 megapixels per second may not impress, but watch out for 2850 megatexels fill rate!
