I would personally take the E5200. It consumes less power, is faster, cooler, and much more overclockable. :)

If you overclock, the E5200. No question about it.

If you are at stock, the 7750 should come out ahead. Sure its a dual core phenom, but it has all that cache just for two CPU's. not to mention is at 2.7ghz. Games should run better on it.

The 7750 is based on Phenom 1, so has just 2mb cache.

Yeah but the 7750 has 2MB L3 for only two cores to feed which is actually a much better ratio than if the 2MB L3 is feeding 4x cores. The 7750 cpu is a very good performer, especially for its very low price. Its has a pretty good ocing ability and very easy to oc since it is the so-called black edition. 3.2-3.4ghz isn't out of the question at all. The stock speed has pretty good performance anyways.

I would definitely take a 7750 over e5200. I actually have a e5200 in my system and I am not too impressed by it. But I don't use it oced, just @ stock 2.5ghz. Just my opinion of course.

As i am new, pls tell is it really very eazy to overclock cpus like this and does it require any additional cooler & if yes, then which budget cooler is good for ocing.

As many have said the e5200 is gr8 for OC but 7750 is also not that bad.

If you only need speed the e5200 will top the 7750 out but the e5200 will get very hot in the process. Also the 7750 in comparison with the 2140 seemed cooler at the same speed.

So i recommend 7750 overall and e5200 for performance.

BTW you getting a GPU or no, if you are not the AMD platform with a 3200 would be better than a x3100, etc.... ALso why not get a amd x3 710 instead ??

E5200 hands down. The 7750+ is based on the PHI and is power hungry, and the OC abilities are VERY much YMMV. Some people have OCd the 7750 to decent levels, but many others have had no luck at all with it. The 5200 is much more efficient and is much more generally overclockable.

On the other hand, if you already have a AM2+ board than can run the 7750, then it might be a better option...

That'd be my biggest consideration. Both are budget (<$100) processors. But I think that among budget CPUs, the E5200 wins. The only sub-$100 AMD I'd go for would be a 45W 4850e for $40. Pair that with a cheap microATX board and you've got yourself a winner for VERY cheap. Once you get into the $70-$80 range, the E5200 is better.

You can't compare temperature readings between Intel and AMD. The 7750 has quad-core power consumption for dual-core performance.

Question 1 is complex. On the one hand, the 7750 has an unlocked multiplier, so changing your overclock settings is very easy - just increase the multiplier and you're overclocking. On the other hand, the 7750 can't actually overclock as well as the E5200. The 7750 starts at 2.7 GHz and most can't get higher than about 3.2. The E5200, on the other hand, is 2.5 to start and many people have gotten it as high as 3.5 GHz! This is especially good considering the Core 2 Duo is already better than the Phenom I-based 7750 clock-for-clock.

just one last thing to know is if both the processors are clocked to 3.2 ghz then which will perform better.

Pls also tell what difference is there between Biostar A780G M2+SE / Giagbyte GA-MA78GM-S2HP and among intel: Asus P5K PL CM / Gigabyte GA-P31-ES3G.

And all these mobos given by me help in Overclocking or not?

I can't really comment on the motherboards, but it seems these days all but the very cheapest motherboards have at least a few overclocking options. You'll have to ask the Motherboards forum here for specifics.

As for which one is faster at a given clock speed, that would be the E5200. The Core 2 Duo is faster, clock for clock, than the Phenom I. So if you compare a dual-core Phenom @ 3.2 vs. a dual-core Core 2 @ 3.2, the Core 2 will win.

Also, the E5200 should be cooler. It draws significantly less power. You can see why the E5200 is so highly recommended. The next best step up is probably the Phenom II X3 710 or 720, but they are significantly more expensive.

I've built new 2nd rig from old and new parts, and after OC'ing the E5200 to 3652MHz (stable, 1.344v CPUz) and spent past week gaming with it (Windows 7 x64 beta 7057) I say:

If my C2D E8400 - 3.9GHz died today, np, just toss in the E5200 ! I wouldn't hesitate one sec, never buy a ~2.5x more expensive CPU....
